He started his career at the local Whiston Juniors. Steven was discovered by liverpools scouts and and was requested not only joined Liverpool at the age of 9 years. Gerrard had to try several trainings since he was 14, including at Manchester United, which he, in his autobiography, says was to push Liverpool to give him a youth contract. He signed his first professional contract with Liverpool 5th November 1997.
